Description: Fire Escape is a 2D platformer game where players learn fire safety skills by practicing them in the game. You move through different cities, avoid smoke and fire, pick up extinguishers, check doors and help NPCs get out safely. The goal is to make fire safety learning a way that’s fun and easy for kids to understand. We’re presenting a playable game that shows how the game teaches real safety through gameplay.

ABOUT:

According to the National Fire Protection Agency, on average there are over 3,600 Fire related fatalities in the United States every year with a vast majority of these Fire related incidents being preventable. We figured what better way to educate the population early than a game targeted towards a younger audience! We are combining our differing expertise to educate young children on fire safety through the gameplay of our 2D platformer. In our game players will navigate through different levels that simulate common fire hazards or scenarios. The main character of our game is a firefighter, whose main mission is to save the civilians in these scenarios and put out the fires destroying the environments. Our goal is to use the firefighter and the scenarios to teach the children how to save any lives, safely put out fires and how to prevent those kinds of fires depending on the environment. The market for our genre of game is currently valued at around $14 billion, and expected to grow to $30 billion within the next five years! We are aiming to set our game apart from others by taking an issue that is normally taught at home, or in a classroom, and turning it into an enjoyable game that utilizes the mechanics to teach young children proper fire safety. We were greatly inspired by the Mario franchise, the Sonic franchise, Celeste, and The Fireman which was released in 1994. We have completed level 1 and 2 of our game and we hope to continue to work on assets and future levels!
